Let’s be Social

Check out our upcoming Events

Throughout the club’s Fall and Winter season we endeavour to provide monthly activities which will not only appeal to and involve members of the club but that will also be of interest to the community at large.  Typically, the season opens in September with “An Evening of Humorous Readings”  where members read and perform their own choice of humorous poems, skits and short stories.  This evening was initiated by a pastpresident of the club, John Parry who sadly is no longer with us.  This year we dedicate the evening to the late Ian Lauchlan.  A fun evening for a fun gentleman!

The most popular monthly activity is the traditional “An Evening of Christmas Readings”, now in it’s 31st year, held in St. James Church Hall, tables adorned with fresh pine and seasonal goodies and drinks served, this makes for a wonderful start to the holiday season and is much appreciated by the public who are welcomed warmly.  Other monthly activities are rehearsed play readings which are a good vehicle for “wannabe’ actors and directors and again have proven very popular.  Workshops, covering a range of stage related subjects, such as, directing, producing, make-up and costumes and speech are also a feature of our monthly meetings.  This year, two club members who are now working professionally in the world of theatre and film, led a round table discussion with younger members of the club presently in the John Abbott Theatre program.

We have also presented Dinner Theatre and Café style events.
All are welcome to attend these fun meetings and for members entrance is free for most events while guests pay a modest entry fee. Please come and “play with us”!
